From the Pastor

Greetings of peace, hope, and joy for the New Year! May God’s great blessings be yours in all God’s wisdom and supply in 2012!

Sue and I thank you all so very much for all the ways you have blessed us at Christmastime and throughout the past year. Until we can share our words of appreciation in a more personal and specific way, this generic “thank you” will have to suffice. We are truly blessed to be serving God here in Lomira!

All New GPS Starting Soon!

Pastor Kerry will be leading a new six week segment of GPS starting on Monday, January 9th at 7:00 pm in the Fireside Room. Our new series is entitled “Our Eternal Home” and will look at what the Bible says about Heaven. We had a great turnout in November when DuWayne Loescher spoke about his miraculous experience while being “dead” for 30 minutes back in June of 2008. Maybe you have questions that we can answer as we turn to God’s Word for God’s inspired revelation given to all of us.

Remember that GPS stands for “God’s Positioning System” and includes Glorifying God in singing His praises, Prayer, and Scripture study together. And GPS is also a chance to worship God and be with God’s people if you were Gone the Previous Sunday!! Come and learn. Come and grow spiritually! Come and be blessed!!

Special Sundays In January

Jan. 1 – Epiphany Sunday when we remember the worship of the Magi.

It is also New Years’ Day and we rededicate our lives to God for the year ahead as we share in the traditional Covenant Prayer of John Wesley as a part of our Communion time. Pastor Kerry’s message “Naming Jesus…” will look at the many, many “names” or titles given to Jesus and what they mean for us today in our daily struggles. Scriptures you are invited to read in preparation are Matthew 2:1-11 and Matthew 1:21-23. Remember we will have our usual two worship services on New Years’ Day.

Jan. 8 – “The Baptism of Our Lord” on the Sunday after Epiphany Day. We will celebrate the baptism of one of our pre-teens with “baptism by pouring!” We will all be able to “renew” our baptisms as we come forward as a recommitment of our hearts to the Lord. Pastor Kerry will focus the message on “The Father’s Blessing” which we all need to hear and experience, just as Jesus did at His baptism. Scriptures for the morning will be Mark 1:4-11 and Ephesians 1: 3-8, 13-14.

Jan. 15 – Soup Lunch fund-raiser for the Red Bird Mission Trip

Worship will focus on God’s omniscience! If you don’t know what that is and why it’s important and a tremendous blessing, then come and find out all about it. You may wish to read these Scriptures ahead of time: Psalm 139:1-3 and John 1:43-51.

Jan. 22 – Blanket Sunday

Come prepared to support this great mission project. Pastor Kerry’s message is entitled “Living as a Committed Disciple is an Adventure” and will be based on Mark 1:14-20 along with Psalm 37. There will be a special children’s time for all kids and pre-teens using Dr. Seuss and his book Horton Hears a Who.

Jan. 29 – Communion Sunday (for February!)

Pastor Kerry’s message will deal with the topics of Jesus’ omnipotence (another big word!) and spiritual warfare. Read Mark 1:21-28 and Romans 8:38-39.
